1. How old do I need to be to get my forklift licence?
To go for your forklift licence, you have to be 18 years or older.
2. What does it mean by LF and LO?
LF and LO are classes of forklift licences.
The LF Forklift Licence allows you to
drive any Forklift except for an Order Picker/Stock Picker Forklift and is the most commonly obtained licence.
The LO Forklift Licence allow you to operate the Order
Picker/Stock Picker type Forklift.
3. I’m from overseas and I’ve operated forklifts before in my
country. I’ve even got a licence. Can I operate a forklift in
Melbourne?
Overseas forklift licences are not recognized in
Melbourne. If you wish to operate a Forklift in Melbourne you will need to be re-assesed within Australia for the appropriate licence.
4. How long do courses run?
Courses vary depending on the RTO you will do your training with. Some RTO’s offer a number of different forklift courses. Other’s just offer specific courses. Most RTO’s will offer beginner courses.
5. Where are courses located?
Again, this is dependent on the RTO. Some have multiple locations for forklift courses all over Melbourne. Others will have just one location to train students. Should you be interested to find where an RTO trains from, please contact them directly.
6. How many days a week are RTO’s open?
Many RTO centers are open 6 days a week. Some may also be available on Saturdays. Please enquire directly with your chosen RTO.
