What age do I need to be for a Victorian Forklift Licence?

Must be 18 years and over.

To get your Forklift Licence, you must be at least 18 years and over.

Therefore you will need to show your proof of age when you go for your Forklift Licence.

If you are younger than 18, Worksafe Victoria will not grant you a forklift licence.

Forklift Licence Victoria – Forklift Training

In order to obtain your forklift licence, you will need to pass both a practical and theoretical assesment. There are many courses and Forklift training programs available from Registered Training Organisations that cater for a wide range of driver skills and abilities. Experienced operators may be deemed competent and pass assesment at the end of a one day program whilst RTO’s may require novice operators and those with little to no experience to undertake a multi-day training program.

Forklift Licence Victoria – How do I obtain a Forklift Licence?

To obtain your Forklift License in Victoria, you will need to pass both a practical and theory test.

Forklift Licence Victoria – The Theoretical Assesment

The Forklift Licence study guide consists of a pool of 97 questions. Of these 97 questions you can expect to find 52 of these questions on the theoretical assesment examination.

Included in the 52 assesment questions will be 30 critical questions (marked with a star) which must be answered 100% correctly.

The Forklift Licence theory assessment is a “closed book” assessment which can be completed written or orally if preferred. It is not a multiple-choice assessment and questions are in the short answer format.

Forklift Licence Victoria – Application Fee

If you pass both the practical and theoretical components of the assessment you will be issued on-the-spot with a “Notice of Assessment”, an interim license, valid for 60 days.

Within this 60 day period, you will need to submit your application and application fee to Worksafe Victoria in order to process the full licence and application.

Worksafe Victoria will then send your Forklift Licence upon processing.

This Forklift Licence is valid for a period of 5 years.
